For the BMW Group, K5 Factory supported the optimization of internal logistics processes by developing the front-end of a new picking platform. The platform enables hardware- and location-independent work, allowing employees to operate flexibly across different workstations and environments.
At the beginning of each shift, employees log in using their personal end devices — such as smartwatches, tablets, or smart glasses — and can immediately start commissioning. The front-end was designed to support seamless transitions between workplaces, enabling users to continue working with their own devices throughout the shift, independent of data sources or connected wearables.
The picking platform was recognized for its innovation and impact by winning the VDA Logistics Award, highlighting its contribution to efficiency, flexibility, and user-centered design in industrial logistics.
