experimenta Explorer

For the experimenta Science Center in Heilbronn, K5 Factory developed a mobile gaming app that intuitively communicates the core ideas of the experimenta — without replacing the on-site exhibition experience.

Designed as an AI-driven simulation game, the app invites users to actively engage with scientific experiments inside a true-to-scale digital replica of the experimenta building. Players are encouraged to explore, experiment, and learn through play, with knowledge conveyed implicitly rather than through traditional instructional formats.

The app allows users to seamlessly switch between augmented reality and virtual reality modes, adapting the experience to different contexts and devices. Nominated for the UX Design Award, the project demonstrates how mobile games can extend educational spaces beyond physical visits — motivating users to return to the app even after their time at the exhibition.
