In June 2025, the AR heritage trail developed by K5 Factory officially opened in the twin cities of Laufen and Oberndorf bei Salzburg. The location-based augmented reality experience invites visitors to explore the shared history of both cities directly in public space.
Across six AR stations, digital storytelling layers historical narratives, visual reconstructions, and contextual information onto real locations. The trail brings to life places, moments, and structures that no longer exist today — making history tangible where it actually happened.
The opening marks an important milestone for the project and demonstrates how augmented reality can enrich cultural heritage, tourism, and urban storytelling by extending physical spaces through immersive digital experiences.
